Watch for Changes to Our Login Process

In order to provide enhanced security of your finances and
information, we are changing our login procedures,
effective April 7, 2013. We are streamlining the
process by eliminating picture and phrase, while adding
new layers of security behind the scenes.

If you log in from a new computer or location, you may be
asked to validate your information through a phone call or
SMS text code. This new process will help protect your information.

It was reported on October 25 that a hacker recently accessed a South Carolina Department of Revenue database containing nearly 400,000 credit card and debit card numbers, and 3.6 million social security numbers. While it’s still unclear what degree of fraud may have taken place as a result of this information breach, the data theft potentially affects anyone who filed a state tax return since 1998. As a result, hackers potentially have access to any information contained on tax returns, including bank account data. We at Tidelands Bank are monitoring the situation closely. The SC Department of Revenue has provided us the account numbers which were part of this breach. Please be advised that you will receive a notification letter from us if your account information was compromised. As always, we advise you to watch your account(s) regularly and report any suspicious activity to us immediately at (888) 877-8433. Should you have further concerns, please contact your Personal Banker at your local branch.

Rest assured, your information is secure at Tidelands Bank. We have made significant investments in our state-of-the-art firewall protection and taken other security measures to prevent the unauthorized access to our customers’ personal data.

Further, bank customers that are South Carolina taxpayers should go to the Department of Revenue website, www.sctax.org/security.htm to learn more about free credit protection DOR and Experian are offering to all South Carolina taxpayers. For those without Internet access, they can call the Department of Revenue at 1-866-578-5422 to get protection. Remember, this is only credit protection and does not apply to deposit and savings accounts. 

For business customers, the state of South Carolina has arranged free credit monitoring services for all South Carolina businesses through Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp. for the life of the business. This service began on Friday, Nov. 2. Businesses can register at www.dandb.com/sc/ or they can do so by calling (800) 279-9881.
